October 11 is Investors Day at Habitat for Humanity, Saint John House

SAINT JOHN, NEW BRUNSWICK – October 5, 2001 – On Thursday, October 11, Investors Group, Saint John, will hold a special “Investors Day” at the fourth Habitat for Humanity home.

During the day, representatives from Investors Group will assist at the site on the corner of Coster and Wilson Street in West Saint John where construction is well underway. Richard Walter, Regional Director of Investor’s Group, Saint John, explains they show up at the site ready to work and to do whatever needs to be done.

“That could mean cutting down trees, clearing brush, hammering, filling cracks, sweeping floors...the whole gambit,” Walter says. “I tell everyone to bring gloves.”

Investors Group also provides pizza at noon that day for all the dedicated volunteers.

“It’s a great opportunity to see the progression of one of the homes we contribute to,” he says.

Investors Group has been involved with Habitat for Humanity, Saint John, since it organized the building of its first house in 1998. A platinum sponsor, Investors Group gives generously to Habitat For Humanity, Saint John, through time, money and effort.

“It’s a great feeling of a sense of community when fortunate people like ourselves can come to the assistance of people in need, providing our time and money to help them realize a dream – a new home,” Walter says. “It’s a work of love.”

Habitat for Humanity, Saint John Region Inc., is an independent, non-profit, Christian housing program dedicated to providing homes for Saint John area families in need. Earlier this year, the organization selected Cheryl Green and her two daughters Keesha, 12, and Tiffany, 10, for its 2001 home.
